California Lemon Law Attorneys

Purchasing a lemon – or a car, motorcycle, or truck with defective parts – cannot be avoided. This is understandable as most buyers are not oriented towards the internal workings of a car, and even auto mechanics can be fooled into buying lemons. That’s why there are California lemon law attorneys. Not only are car and motor engines difficult to evaluate, but the defect sometimes appears months after the unit is bought.

For used cars, the possibility of getting a lemon is even greater. This is due sometimes to deliberate manipulation of sellers to make the used cars more attractive. This is called auto fraud. For example, they could alter the odometer so that the reading is a few miles less than the actual mileage. This increases the car’s value unfairly, and thus reaps dishonest profit.

Another modus operandi is failure to disclose flood damage, which dramatically reduces a car’s value. But it is the defects that cause accidents which are difficult to detect in the first few months. Take Toyota’s vehicles, for example, which had sticking accelerator pedals. Prior to recall of these vehicles, the defective part has caused numerous road accidents, and sometimes tragically resulted in deaths. This is the reason that most states implement strict lemon laws. Take California, for example. It is said that the state’s automobile lemon law, or used car law, is one of the best in the country. Consumer protection is ensured to the extent that even attorneys’ fees are charged to the manufacturers, not to mention reimbursement or replacement of the defective vehicle.

Unfortunately, most consumers are unaware of this provision. Because they do not want to go to the trouble of litigation, they allow themselves to be manipulated into a settlement that gives them far less than the amount they deserve. They are allowed to think that if they bring the matter to court, they would be taking a huge risk that could cost them lawyers’ fees in their defense and the settlement amount, not to mention the time and added stress that come with filing claims or litigation. Of course these are all gibberish, because the law often sides with consumers. And worse, there are buyers who opt to trade-in, at a huge loss, their defective vehicle for a newer one, all in the name of avoiding the hassles of going to court.

This has got to stop. It’s time for consumers to know their rights. They are entitled to retain California lemon law attorneys, and to get them for free. More lives could be saved, and consumers protected, if they only knew their rights.
